Week 8 Term 3 Thursday 13th September 2019 School Roll: 100
TE WIKI O TE REO MĀORI
Natone students have had a very cuultural week this week celebrating Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori. Their week have consisted of Karakia, Waiata, Marae aerobics, Māori performing Arts, Māori Arts and crafts and lots more.
A warm welcome to our newest addition to our Natone Park School staff, Whaea Nenah Kelemete. Whaea Nenah will be teaching in Ngake 4 days a week to release Whaea Ria to Principal Duties. We hope you enjoy your time with us.
THANK YOU AND FAREWELL
You may have noticed Whaea Steph around school this term. She has been doing her placement and will very soon be graduating from Te Wananga o Raukawa. We want to say a big big thank you for all you have done. We know the kids are going to miss you immensley in their classroom. We wish you all the best for your future in the teaching world.
LATENESS TO SCHOOL
Please send your child on time to school as we are trying to monitor behaviours happening in and out at the classroom. We have noticed for some children, that if they don’t get to play before school they sometimes get agitated.
We have also noticed an increase of children coming to school with breakfast. Please encourage them to utilise our Breakfast Club if they are hungry.
It has been so cold lately and we understand many children are becoming unwell. Please contact the office if your child is going to be away so we can mark attendance accordingly. If your child is away more than a few days please provide a medical certificate and drop it into the office. We also have our own school nurse who come’s to visit every Tuesday. If you would like your child to be seen on that day please contact Whaea Miro and she will let the nurse know.
We have had a few incidents where children are hungry during class time. Our school provides breakfast every morning which is open from 8am – 8.30am. Whaea Sharlene is more than happy to make the children weetbix or toast so they are all set for their day of learning.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we have our lovely Whaea Millie cooking all our children a warm kai for lunch. If you would like to help come along from 10am to prep the food and serve it out. You know the saying ‘more hands make light work’. This venture has been provided to help feed our children and keep them warm. Unfortunately we have had a few lunches stolen from childrens bags and this is not good. We hope that if children don’t have food that they are brave enough to tell a teacher. We will endeavour to make a sandwich for them.
We have pre packed, ready to eat, beetroot. If you would like some please pop in to the office tomorrow. First in First serve.
Can parents please refrain from giving your children noodles for lunch. We do not allow noodles at our school, Thank you.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
As we continue to have wet conditions at school please be reminded that some of the smaller children might need a change of clothing in their bags as this week a number of children have fallen in the mud. We do not carry many spare clothes and they are not being returned to school to help other children. If you have spare pant’s to offer for these sorts of accident’s please send them to the office.
All sports have now finished for the term. A huge thankyou to our parents who helped coach, transport and support all our sports teams this year. The staff and students appreciate all you do for us to make these events happen. Congratulations to al our sports stars for a successful season.
DANCING FOR FITNESS
Each morning from 8.55 to 9.15-ish we have dancing with our students. These are modern songs played on the big screen where the children learn steps to help improve their fitness levels. If you are game enough to come along or stay when you drop your child/ren off you are more than welcome to join in. We would love to have you with us. We are inviting Te Toka Ahuru Kohanga Reo and BestStart Waitangirua Kindergarten to bring some of their children along too. Don’t be shy. Come and let your hair down and show us some of your moves. It was so awesome having BestStart join us this morning, We are looking forward to the KIndy joining us tomorrow morning.
We are going to hold a Whanau Hui next Wednesday 18th September in the staffroom at 5pm. We will be introducing the parent Advisory Board and completing a survey. It would be great to have you there.
On the 20th September Whataitai and Ngake will be doing a stream clean up on Te Awa iti, If any parents are available to help on the day it will be greatly appreciated.
We are studying Healthy Foods next Term. Any parents out there that may have a passion for Gardening or just want to help out, you are more than welcome to come along. Just pop in and see Whaea Ria. We already have one awesome parent who has put her hand up to help. Thankyou Shanna Campbell.
You may have noticed the sun is starting to shine. Please send your child to school with a named hat to wear during their play time. We are a sun smart school and want to protect our tamariki as much as we can. Your support is greatly appreciated.
ZEALANDIA FAMILY PASS
Our school has been given a yearly family ZEALANDIA Membership pass (up to 2 adults and 3 children). If you would like to borrow this pass for a day please see Whaea Miro in the office. The pass needs to be signed out and signed back in the day after so other familys can use it. We would like all familys to be able to enjoy a family experience at Zealandia. It is very important that all rules for use of this Membership pass is adhered to.
FREE BOOKSHELVES AND CUPBOARDS
We were donated a lot of different style bookshelves and cupboards. If you or anyone you know may like some please come in and see Whaea Miro.
