We are now in Week 2 and getting on with our report writing about Tangata Rongonui. The children are learning how to write information related to a topic/kaupapa.
We have had a few interruptions this week with Teacher Stop Work Meetings on Monday and Wednesday afternoons but we have tried to do this with minimal disruption.
The teachers met yesterday and Monday to discuss the mediation process. We will be informed tomorrow what the next step will be as the Union goes into mediate with Parliament regarding the pay parity requests. We would like to thank you for your support.
Digital Technology workshop
The teachers will be leaving school at 3pm to attend a workshop to upskill in the Digital Technology Curriculum so as to bring new and exciting activities into the classroom.
Matua Meka went to a course yesterday to learn about Fire and Risk Hazards and how to monitor and keep these at bay. We have a register book which is kept at the office to keep up awareness of repairs or adjustments that need to be made.
Fire Safety Check
On Tuesday Natone Park School were taken through a rigorous Fire Safety check to see if our buildings are compliant. So far so good with just a couple of minor adjustments to be made.
Parent Advisory Hui
On Tuesday our Parent Advisory Group met with our Commissioner, Te Tiwha Puketapu, to discuss and report on activities they have and will be taking place over the next fortnight.
I would like to thank the parents and caregivers of our budding athletes and sports reps. We are a little bewildered as to when practises will be held. If you wish to be updated please either ring or come and see Whaea Ruu as these have changed slightly.

Natone Park School students have been invited to apply for scholarships. There is a free family information evening for students and scholarships available in 2019, this will be held at Victoria University of Wellington on Thursday 23rd May at 7pm.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Please lock Wednesday 26 June into your diaries as we prepare the Term 2 school reports. School will be closing at 2pm for interviews
and these will finish at 7pm. A booking sheet request form will be attached to the newsletter. It will be a first in first served basis
Samoan Language Classes
Are you interested in learning Samoan Language. We are holding classes on a Thursday night for Parents and students of Natone Park School. The cost will be a koha each night. If you are interested come and see Whaea Toa to register. There will be a strict limit of 20 people.
Absence and Attendance
We have a few concerns regarding absenteeism of students at Natone Park School. Letters will be coming out for parents to come and discuss these concerns in the office.
Finally, our Reading Recovery Programme has commenced. We have 2 students still to complete their full literacy course and 2 new students to commence. Letters will be coming out to inform you of your childs position.
Whaea Linda Vaua Su’a will be taking our classes for Energizer Activities for 30 minute sessions. The children are looking forward to building their team working skills.
Ko wai au
The Whanau Centre advisers will be in every Thursday starting today to take troubleshooting activities using everyday scenarios. Our children are looking forward to the fun filled sessions.
Community nurse, dental therapists and doctors appointments
If you require assistance with making appointments we can help by getting the nurse to first visit your child and then informing the required agencies based on urgency. Please ring the office if you would like us to assist you.
