Ko te pipi te tuatahi, Ko te kaunuku to tuarua

From small beginnings come great things

Week 7 Term 4                           Thursday 29 November 2018                                 School Roll: 106

Last night we held our last Whanau Engagement hui for the year.  We shared a slide show and some of the highlights from our Parent survey which will help us to form the Natone Park School Charter for 2019.  Thank you for all those that came and helped out especially the reports back from the portfolio holders.  Mauriora.

Next Saturday 8 December between 9am-12 noon, Natone Park School is holding a working bee to help remove the dirt surrounding the Pohutukawa which is causing us a little stress in the playground.  Although it will be sad to see the big shade removed it will make way for a safer area for the children to run around more as the roots are lifting the tarseal.  If you are available to come along please bring a shovel and lots of laughs.  We will finish with a sausage sizzle for our hard workers.

We have approached some lucky students who have been invited to the Annual Christmas Party on Saturday 1 December at Te Rauparaha Arena.  I know from previous years the students have been endowed with lots of goodies, fun activities and music.  Unfortunately there are no spare tickets as we were only allocated 30.

XMAS in the PARK

Natone Park School is hosting this years Xmas in the Park which will be shared amongst students from NPS, Tairangi and Corinna.  This will be occurring on Monday 10 December between 1-3pm.  We will be starting the day with Xmas Carols (x2) and then getting into the swing of Sports and fun.  You are more than welcome to come along and help as we are the hosts.

Yesterday the students from Rangituhi had a day out at Te Papa.  I know that fun was had by all and that the children thoroughly enjoyed working on all the latest technology equipment.  The staff from Raranga Matahiko have been working with Rangituhi in their class on Monday and invited them to come and see the range of digital technology in their own room in Wellington.  We would like to thank all involved who made this possible for our students.

PRIZEGIVING – Te Ra Whakanui 2018

On Wednesday 12 December at 11.30am we will be holding our last assembly and prize giving for our Natone Park School students.  The ceremony will only be for 1 hour and we would like to invite all parents to come along and celebrate with us.  We will send a programme out closer to the day.

On Friday 7 December at 11.30 the Junior School students will be awarded in a ceremony with Certificate of Participation in our newly introduced Reading and Writing programme.  We have invited the Honourable Mayor of Porirua Mike Tana and wish to invite all Junior School parents. Nibbles will be served afterwards.

On Monday and Tuesday December 3 and 4 we will be welcoming back the DMIC team who will be retesting the students and staff of Natone Park School to compare the progress of learning.  We are excited to see the results.

On Tuesday 4 December our aspiring athletes will attend the Regional Athletics Competition in Otaki.  If you wish to come along and be a support person please let us know at the office.  We wish them well in their events.

Our teachers are currently completing all school reports which will be handed out in Week 9 of this term.  If you wish to talk with your child/ren’s teacher please do not hesitate to make an appointment at the office.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Bike Krew who came along on Saturday morning to help fix broken bikes.  This was a very successful day with about 30 people getting support and help to rebuild, fix or check their bikes.  I would also like to mention the generosity of this group that gave away about 10 rebuilt bikes to those that didn’t have one.  The result was a lot of happy children riding around and around even when it was raining.  We are hoping to make contact with this particular group and look at the same and other initiatives to get our children out actively playing. And last but not least a big thankyou to Whaea Linda who continues to support our school in all these fantastic events and opportunities for our tamariki.

The USO Bike team have postponed their community bike ride to next Tuesday December 4 at 6pm from the Maraeroa Health Clinic.  If you are interested in attending either turn up or make contact with Findlay Siania at Maraeroa.

Natone Park School Y8 students will be out visiting their prospective colleges today (Aotea) and tomorrow (PC) to meet other Y9s, get a feel of the college life and help prepare for the transition.  Please ensure your child have enough healthy kai to survive the whole day visits. We are glad that we have their tuakana to guide them such as Ropati, Sauvale and Logo  Neti, Israel, Sefton and Oto Lia and Chris Muaiava,

Our congratulations go out to Nanny Lovi, Whaea Ruhina and Whaea Toa for their participation and completion of their 2018 Business Management Course through Auckland University.  Tau ke nga Wahine.

The staff and students of Natone Park School would like to thank Whaea Linda Vaaua Sua for her support and leading this initiative for our school community.  The feedback from our visitors has been very positive where the participants have had good fun and laughs as well as having the ability to exercise in a low impact routine with high results. Our last Hula Fix is this Monday 3rd December 6pm Sharp. Lets do this Whanau………

Our sausage sizzle was a great success.  We will hold another one as the students have requested this for tomorrow.  We will be selling a sausage sizzle and a drink for $3.50.  Thanks for your support
