Term 2

We would like to welcome our Whanau back to school to an exciting term of new learning. Our kaupapa is focussed on ‘Our Community’. We will be looking at who is in our Community, what they do, how they help, visitors to school; Road Safety Week, commencement of Sports ie Basketball, Netball and Unihoc;

We have a number of students who have started at Natone Park School this term and I would like to welcome them:

We will endeavour to get the school newsletters out by Thursday each week. Please ask your child for their notice so that you can be kept up to date with the up and coming events.

The newsletter can also be obtained on the School Facebook page and the Website.

School gates

The school gates (at the Mall) open at 8am and is locked during School hours. If you are visiting please ensure that you go to the office first and sign in. This is especially important in-case of emergency so that we know who is onsite.

It is vital that your child attends school every day. If your child is not at school they are not learning. We find it very difficult to ‘catch students up’ when they are consistently late or absent. As part of the RAAYs programme we are bound to inform agencies of students who are truant. This is automatically generated on our computerised attendance roll system. Please take responsibility and help us out.

Late students need to go straight to the office to collect a pink ‘Late’ card before going to class.

Whanau Whanau Hui

The next Hui will be on Wednesday 30 May at 5.30pm in the Staffroom. Some items on the agenda will be presentation of the Annual Plan 2018, Reports from the Advisory Committee on Curriculum, Property, …..

Ko wai au

Every Thursday afternoon, at 1.30pm, our senior students are privileged to take part in this programme to help with relationship building, conflict resolution, making good choices, promoting self and others.

10 of our students have participated in WAITech (Water Technology) using waka ama as an educational resource. This programme is for 10 weeks. On Wednesday 16 May our students will be graduating which will be held at Takapuwahia Marae with 6 other school in the Porirua District.

Breakfast Literacy

Each morning the classrooms are open for children to enjoy LIteracy activities before school. You are more than welcome to see how our children make good choices to extend their learning in their own time.

Professional Development

Whaea Ruu and Whaea Toa have been taking part in The Sunshine Programme. They have obtained some resources to help in Literacy which the children are enjoying.

DMIC Maths

Bronwyn….. Is the visiting lecturer who frequents our school to help advise in our Maths programme. Our children are participating in inquiry learning where they investigate situations, problem solve and present their ideas using a variety of learned strategies to share their knowledge. This has been a positive move for the children as they see themselves becoming great leaders, confident in sharing ideas and time management skill.

Julie Beattie has worked with our school helping design a balanced Literacy Programme throughout the school. Her time with us is coming to an end and we would like to acknowledge her professionalism and thoroughness in uplifting and building improved teaching capabilities in the classrooms.

Reading Recovery

There are 4 lucky students who are on our Reading Recovery Programme with Whaea Fiona. Their programme is from 12 noon to 2.45pm each day. If you would like to come and ask questions or observe your child and find out how you can help at home please do not hesitate to contact her.
